Halsey Lists Mediterranean-Style LA Compound for Nearly $12 Million

The abode was formerly owned by One Direction’s Liam Payne, who claimed it was haunted

Singer-songwriter Halsey has listed their LA compound for $11.9 million, Dirt reports. The Grammy nominee, who uses both she and they pronouns, purchased the multiple-structure home two years ago for about $10.2 million. The mansion was previously owned by One Direction vocalist Liam Payne, who bought it in 2015 and has expressed his belief that the house was haunted by the ghost of the aerial film operator who constructed it, Alan Purwin. In 2017, Payne told The Sun that he had “seen lights go on and off in the middle of the night and a few little creepy things, like taps turning on and off,” during his ownership of the Monte Nido estate. No word yet on whether or not the “Closer” singer had any encounters with the supernatural in the home, which is nestled in the semi-remote hills between Calabasas and Malibu.

As is the preference of so many celebrities in the star-powered SoCal enclave, the residence is ultra-private, hidden away behind a guarded gate at the end of a secluded drive and shaded by dozens of mature sycamores. Vehicles must cross a bridge that arches over a flowing creek to enter.

Five bedrooms and seven full bathrooms are spread across the Mediterranean-style home’s 10,000 square feet. Featuring walnut floors, a chef’s kitchen, a two-story library, and a movie theater, it’s no secret why the dwelling has been snapped up by celeb after celeb. It also boasts a recording studio, likely a strong selling point for both Payne and Halsey. The main house offers a full basement level, which Halsey outfitted with a glam room and beauty salon.

The various structures on the property include a small gatehouse for a full-time security guard, a detached three-car garage, a guesthouse that features its own three-car garage, a pool house, and a meditation studio.

While the home itself is plenty opulent, the grounds of the property really steal the show; its five acres are fully landscaped, surrounded by towering trees which infuse it with a storybook, woodsy atmosphere. A vineyard, dog run, swimming pool, and patio complete with an outdoor kitchen fill the backyard.

Records show that Halsey still owns two other properties, one in Santa Clarita and another across the country in her home state of New Jersey.
